Virginia's got game, but Carolina's got ranking

At the beginning of the ACC season, I picked North Carolina to finish first in the ACC. For some reason, that doesn't make sense to me now. I thought UNC was a relatively deep team with a tradition of excellence. Considering Duke's preseason state, I was certain the Tar Heels could take on the Blue Devils for the ACC crown.

The rest of the country seemed to feel the same way, considering North Carolina was picked as a preseason No. 5 while Duke sat at No. 8.

But after North Carolina's 10 losses, five of them Conference defeats, it seems very surprising to all rational sports fans out there that the Heels are continuing to get the same praise they received at the start of the season.
