Watson grabs ACC rookie honor

Virginia freshman Travis Watson earned his second ACC Rookie of the Week honor this season for last week's stellar play against Clemson and North Carolina. Over the two games, Watson scored 27 points and pulled down 15 rebounds - including 11 boards in the Cavs' victory against the Tar Heels. His performance in Chapel Hill produced his seventh double-double of the season.

Watson is averaging 11.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. His field goal percentage rose to 54.3 percent after going 14-for-24 from the field in the two-game stretch.

Former Cavs head to Europe

Three former Cavalier football players are hopeful that NFL Europe can sustain their dreams of gridiron glory. The Carolina Panthers allocated Antonio Dingle, defensive tackle for Virginia from 1995-1998, to play for the Scottish Claymores. Robert Hunt, guard from 1996-1998, will leave the New Orleans Saints to play for the Berlin Thunder, and Green Bay Packer Doug Karczewski, a 1994 and 1996-1997 guard and a former captain, will join the Amsterdam Admirals. Dingle, Hunt and Karczewski will join former Cavaliers' kicker Rafael Garcia and former cornerback Joe Rowe in the developmental league.
