Stanley hired as new registrar

The Provost's Office has chosen Carol Stanley from Drexel University of Philadelphia, Penn. to replace retired University Registrar Ann Antrobus.

Antrobus was in the position for six years and worked in the Registrar's Office for 26 years.

A University search committee recommended Stanley to Associate Provost Shirley L. Menaker in early spring. Menaker agreed with their recommendation and hired Stanley, who will begin her new job here next Monday.

Stanley previously served for 15 years as director of student information and records at Drexel.

Assistant Registrar Robert LeHeup said that the University advertised through The Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Registrar's office met the five finalists for the job.

Commmittee member and associate dean of admissions Larry Groves said Stanley was the best choice.

"She impressed everyone that talked to her. She has great ideas, a lot of energy, she's persistent and follows through on her ideas," Groves said. "She is very student-oriented and has interesting thoughts and ideas."

He said Stanley is especially impressive in her knowledge of technology.

"She is on top of technological issues, which the committee was especially interested in," Groves said. "She knows what the registrar can do to make getting grades as easy and quick as possible."

The Registrar's Office keeps transcripts, runs ISIS, provides diplomas for graduating students, keeps academic records, publishes the Course Offering Directory and the Undergraduate and Graduate Records, and exchanges records with the different schools.
