Tonight all students have a chance to turn their belly dancing dreams into reality. The University Dance Club invites anyone interested to attend a series of free cultural dance classes tonight and tomorrow night in the Aquatic Fitness Center's multipurpose room.

"I see this as a way to help [the club] diversify choreography by bringing in moves from other cultures," said Lindsay Bunting, third-year College student and event organizer.

The set of four classes kicks off with Indian dancing tonight at 9 p.m., followed by belly dancing techniques at 10 p.m. Tomorrow's classes include Chinese traditional dance at 9 p.m., with African-American stepping rounding off the program at 10 p.m.

Students involved in various cultural and dance organizations will lead the classes. Bunting said she hopes students will walk away from the experience with an understanding of simple movements common to each type of dance and will have a chance to practice a short routine.

"I see these workshops as creating awareness," Bunting said. "It's one thing to go watch a cultural dance performance, but it's different to actually try the moves yourself."
