Blank walls seem boring
Now that you're finally free from the move-in mania of unpacking and finally settled into the fatiguing grind of classes, it's time to take the next step in living on your own: decorating.
From 9 p.m. to 6 p.m. through this Friday, the Prolific Art poster company will be holding its annual sale outside of the University Bookstore with thousands of posters all begging for a permanent home on your wall.
From Muhammed Ali and Van Gogh to the Taj Mahal and Winnie the Pooh, Prolific Art's sale, with its eclectic array of posters, plans on satisfying even those with the most refined or bizarre taste.
"Basically, I'm looking for anything to fill up wall space in my dorm room," first-year College student Dickie Morris said.
But its not just first years that are taking advantage of the wide selection the sale has to offer. Students from all classes are spending part of their afternoons flipping through pages of posters.
"They have some pretty random things here. However, I came with nothing specific in mind, and I know you can come home with something that you didn't expect to buy."
Students attribute their willingness to purchase compulsively to the more than reasonable prices, which range from $6 to $15, depending on the poster's size.
"Prices here are much cheaper than at the Bookstore," said third-year College student Lisa Woods. "Plus, the quality is very good. I have used the same posters for three years and they are in good shape even after using the sticky tape."
Prolific Art road manager, Jeff Apostolou, understands the demand students have for such titles as Gladiator and Weezer, and makes certain that the inventory matches the buyer's market.
"A lot of our posters come from England, which means you are not going to find them anywhere local," Apostolou said. "We try to have the best of art, music and movies, all at low prices."
