They're suede, they're gray, they're New Balance - and my dad used to wear them

My dad's not exactly a trendy sort of guy. In his world, nobody needs to get funkier than a polo shirt, and no tie should have a color spectrum more diverse than red or navy. As far as he's concerned, Celine is the name of a Canadian pop star, and Coach is merely the crowded section of an airplane.

But the point of this article isn't to establish that Mr. Botos hasn't read In Style within the last few months (okay, make that years ... or maybe ever).

Surprisingly enough, my dad had everyone beat in a trend that's currently running rampant around the University.

By 20 years, nonetheless.

That's right, the king of the polo shirt jungle beat everyone to the punch line in one area: athletic shoes.

I'm not just talking about any old sneakers here. Nike Airs? I think not. Pumas? Pass
