Women's soccer upsets FSU to end regular season

The Virginia women's soccer team ended its ACC and regular season with a 2-1 upset of No. 15 Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. on Saturday. The Cavaliers won their fourth consecutive ACC game to finish tied for second with Clemson with a conference record of 4-3.

Senior forward Darci Borski broke the scoreless tie in the sixth minute with her team-leading 10th goal of the season off assists from freshman midfielder Julie Napolitano and sophomore forward Lindsay Gusick. Freshman midfielder Kelly Hammond made it 2-0 with a goal in the 29th minute.

The Seminoles came back in the second half with a Cindy Schofield goal.

Field hockey falls to

Wolverines

The Virginia field hockey team put forth a strong effort on Saturday against Michigan, but ultimately fell to the defending national champions 5-0 in Durham, N.C. after giving up two early goals.

The Wolverines scored in the game's second minute on a goal by sophomore midfielder Katy Moyneur off an assist from sophomore forward Adrienne Hortillosa. Less than three minutes later, Hortillosa assisted on a goal by senior forward Molly Powers. Junior forward Jen Zangara scored the Wolverines' third goal, their last of the half. Senior forward Jessica Rose and Hortillosa rounded out the Michigan scoring in the second half.

The Cavaliers were outshot 20-4 over the course of the game. Junior goalie Emily White made 11 saves in the loss.
