Virginia women's soccer coach Steve Swanson has appointed Maren Rojas to his staff as an assistant. Rojas joins the Cavaliers after spending the previous seven seasons as an assistant coach with Syracuse University.
"We are extremely excited to have Maren join our staff here at Virginia," Swanson said in a release. "I have had the pleasure of working with her during several US National Team training camps and know first hand the kind of energy and knowledge she will bring to our program. She is one of the top young coaches in the country and we feel fortunate to have someone with her character and coaching background join our staff."
Rojas helped build the Syracuse women's soccer program from scratch and was a part of their two trips to the NCAA tournament.
Rojas, a Virginia native, was a goaltender at William & Mary from 1990 to 1993.She later served as the goalkeeper coach for the men's and women's teams at James Madison University from 1993 to 1996 before moving on to Syracuse.
