The Virginia field hockey team fell 5-1 this weekend in Winston-Salem to No. 1 Wake Forest in an ACC contest.
The Deacons (14-1) took the lead early, but the Cavaliers tied the game 1-1 when freshmen Lindsey Selfridge scored the first goal of he career. Wake Forest answered quickly, regaining a lead they would not surrender whenKelly Dostal scored her second goalbefore halftime.
The Deacons stormed out of the locker room, netting two goals in the first five minutes of play. Dostal scored again, and her efforts were complimented by two straight goals from Maeke Boreel to put the Cavaliers away 5-1.
