Women's tennis drops three over break

Virginia struggled against their ranked opponents over Spring Break, falling to No. 60 Southern Methodist University and No. 45 Texas Christian University, and subsequently losing to No.53 Florida State in their ACC opener.

In the first match versus SMU, Virginia fell behind early in doubles play and was unable to recover in singles. Only sisters Dora and Marta Bechliwanis managed to grab victories at No. 4 and 5.

Virginia beat out TCU at No. 1, 2 and 4 in singles play but lost the match 5-2.

The Cavaliers remained unsuccessful after returning home Sunday for their first conference match of the season. The team fell to 9-5 on the season after the 6-1 loss to the Seminoles. Only sophomore Shannon Stough earned a point for Virginia at No. 6.
