Bannister arrested, charged with disorderly conduct

Freshman basketball player T.J. Bannister was one of seven people arrested early last Sunday morning during a fight in the Beta Bridge area of Rugby Road, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The University Athletic Department has not said if it will take any disciplinary action against Bannister.

"There will be no comment until the legal proceedings have run their course," Media Relations Director Rich Murray said.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native started 10 games at point guard for the Cavaliers and was second in assists behind Todd Billet. In Virginia's 84-82 upset of then-No. 11 Wake Forest, Bannister dished a team-high 12 assists and scored nine points. Bannister received increased playing time as the year progressed, eventually earning a starting spot.
