Former coach inducted into College Football Hall of Fame

Former Virginia coach George Welsh joined 13 other football greats last night at the College Football Hall of Fame Annual Awards Dinner induction ceremony last night. Welsh joins other former Cavalier coaches Frank Murray and Earle Neale as the Virginia coaches inducted into the hall of fame.

Welsh came to Virginia in 1982 in an effort to revive the University's football program. In Charlottesville, Welsh tallied 134 wins, three National Coach of the Year honors and two ACC championships. He also led the Cavaliers to 10 consecutive bowl appearances before his retirement in 2000.
