Breaking the previous school record of six in 1948, 1997 and 1999, Virginia had seven players selected in this past weekend's NFL Draft.
Of the seven, only two former Cavaliers were selected Saturday during the draft's first three rounds. Tight end Heath Miller, a consensus All-American, was the first-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 30th overall pick. In addition, linebacker Darryl Blackstock was selected in the third round with the 95th overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals.
Day Two began with a bang as, just 16 slots later than Blackstock, former teammate guard Elton Brown became current teammate Elton Brown as he also was selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round.
Joining Brown as fourth round selections, running back Alvin Pearman was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars and defensive end Chris Canty joins Bill Parcells and the Dallas Cowboys.
Rounding out the draft for Cavalier fans, nose tackle Andrew Hoffman was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round and tight end Patrick Estes was taken by the San Fransisco 49ers with the 248th pick in the seventh round.
