Football team opens practice tomorrow

Al Groh and the Virginia Cavaliers officially begin practice tomorrow afternoon at 6:15pm. The session is open to the public and will be held in the fields behind University Hall.

The Cavaliers are also scheduled to practice Saturday Aug. 6 at 5:15 p.m., Sunday Aug. 7 at 2:45 p.m., Monday Aug. 8 at 6:15 p.m. and Tuesday Aug. 9 at 11:15 a.m. These sessions will also take place in the practice fields behind University Hall and will be open to the public. The final open practice sessions will take place on Saturday Aug. 13 at 8:45 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Virginia opens its season at home Saturday Sept. 3 against Western Michigan. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.

The University’s Orientation and Transition programs are vital to supporting first year and transfer students throughout their entire transition to college. But much of their work goes into planning summer orientation sessions. Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
