Women's tennis begins fall season, advance in W&M Tournament

Marking a promising beginning to its fall season, the Virginia women's tennis team saw five singles players and four doubles teams advance in the opening round of the William & Mary Invitational.

Senior Lori Stern experienced similar success Saturday. Stern proceeded to the final round of the singles flight by beating Anita Ivancevic of Brown in straight sets.

Sunday, the fourth-seeded Stern will be the underdog as she faces the No. 2 seed, Meghan Wolfgram of Richmond.

With wins in straight sets over Michelle Mitchell of Penn and Alina Sullivan of Boston College, Rachel Del Priore also made a strong showing Friday and advanced to the semifinal round of her flight.
