Against the last-ranked rushing team in the conference, Virginia allowed 172 yards on the ground. North Carolina was led by tailback Ronnie McGill, who totaled 118 yards on 23 carries -- an average of 5.1 yards per carry -- in his first extensive action since injuring his pectoral muscle in June.

The Virginia offense, meanwhile, generated minimal offensive rhythm and compiled 199 total yards
