Lewis Garners ACC Women's Swimmer of the Week Honors

Atlantic Coast Conference officials selected sophomore Jess Lewis as the Conference's Women's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week Monday. Lewis earned the award after capturing two individual events as well as a relay win in the Cavaliers' victory over rival Maryland. Virginia won handily, 124-84, in College Park, Md.

Lewis posted season-best times in multiple events. She fought her way to a NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100 free and clocked a personal best for the season in the 200 free. Lewis also swam the anchor leg for the 400 free relay team, which posted a winning time of 3:25:03.

The No. 18 Cavaliers return to the pool Feb. 15-18 to compete in the 2006 ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in College Park. The team hopes to put an exclamation point on their 6-3 overall record and perfect 5-0 ACC mark.
