Virginia defensive coordinator Mike London confirmed Thursday that he will remain a part of coach Al Groh's staff. London had interviewed with Old Dominion University and considered taking the head coaching job for the school's brand-new football program.

After much deliberation, London decided to stay at Virginia and released a statement yesterday announcing he is "committed to the football program at Virginia."

London returned to the Cavaliers' staff last offseason after previously being a part of Groh's inaugural staff at the University from 2001 to 2004.

"I'm glad he is stayting," redshirt freshman Jeffrey Fitzgerald said. "He is a big part in motivating our defense."

The Cavaliers are looking to improve last season's 5-7 record, and London figures to be an integral part of that process.

"I look forward to continuing to work on coach Al Groh's staff as we strive to accomplish all of our goals for the football program and the department of athletics," London stated in the press release.
