Field hockey team heads north for Sheraton Catamount Classic

This weekend the 14th-ranked Cavaliers travel to Vermont for the first time in school history to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats and the Vermont Catamounts in the Sheraton Catamount Classic.

Virginia comes into the weekend with a 1-2 record after a defeat at the hands of the ninth-ranked Old Dominion Monarchs this past Sunday.

After leading the team in scoring last season, sophomore midfielder Traci Ragukas will look to help the Cavaliers topple the Wildcats and Catamounts this weekend. She has started this season on a goal-scoring tear, notching three goals in the first three contests. New Hampshire enters Saturday's contest with a 2-1 record following a loss to Rider. Sunday's opponent, Vermont, comes in on a four-game winning streak that garnered national attention.

Virginia will have its hands full with senior forward Danielle Collins of the Catamounts, who leads the team with five goals on the season. This will be the first meeting between the two schools for field hockey.

This weekend's games will end a three-game road trip for the Cavaliers. They will return to Charlottesville for a four-game homestand starting next Friday against William and Mary.
