Fourth-Year 5K postponed at last minute because of traffic, safety concerns

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

The Fourth-Year 5K, scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, was postponed Friday night because of "safety and liability concerns related to traffic of the football game," according to Jordan Glist, a member of the Peer Health Educators and the Fourth-Year 5K intern. Participants in the race were notified about the decision Friday night.

According to Glist, a decision about rescheduling the annual event, which is aimed at discouraging fourth-year students from participating in unhealthy drinking, will be made Tuesday.

"I'm extremely disappointed that the race didn't happen," Glist said. "I am very much hoping that it will be rescheduled and I will make every effort to make sure it is."

According to Student Health Director James Turner, event organizers are working to reschedule the race and will "probably refund people's money" regardless of whether the race is rescheduled.
