Van Halen to visit JPJ

Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

Charlottesville residents and University students can plan to "Dance the Night Away" when Van Halen comes to John Paul Jones Arena Feb. 22.

According to JPJ General Manager Larry Wilson, this tour is the first time members of Van Halen are touring with their original lead singer, David Lee Roth.

"We are very excited for these rock 'n' roll icons to come to John Paul Jones Arena," Wilson said.

Some University students shared in Wilson's excitement, though that excitement may not necessarily translate into ticket sales.

"I am excited that they are coming to the University, but I probably won't go," fourth-year College Student Mike Parsons said, adding that he was happy to hear the band was reuniting for the tour.

This concert and others at JPJ are heavily marketed to both students and local residents, according to Starr Hill Presents spokesperson Tami Keaveny.

Keaveny added that tickets for the concert will go on sale Dec. 1 at 10 a.m.
