Clemons Library evacuated due to health concerns

Clemons Library was evacuated at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday, after students complained about sudden sneezing and coughing, Head of Clemons Library Donna Tolson said.

"We called 911 just like we do in all these situations," Tolson said. "They advised us to evacuate the building."

Acoording to second-year College student Priya Komma, who was evacuated from Clemons, students were required to leave the building for about an hour.

"Firemen and the police came around and asked if everyone was feeling OK, if anyone was feeling nauseous or had a runny nose," Komma said.

Komma added that she thought the authorities were concerned about the possibility of dust accumulation in the air vents and then blown into the library.

Tolson maintained that the fire department officials who first responded to the call have not yet provided her office with any findings regarding the evacuation.

"Everything seems to be back to normal," she said.
