Conversion of University e-mail accounts delayed

Despite earlier reports that the University's Information Technology and Communication Office would begin to transition student e-mail accounts by the end of February, technical difficulties have pushed the projected start date to later this semester, according to Deputy Chief Information Officer Mike McPherson?. McPherson? said because ITC is giving students two e-mail options, Microsoft Live and Google's Gmail, integrating the new system into the University infrastructure has proven more complicated than originally anticipated. Another cause of delay, he noted, was the creation of a tool for students to move pre-existing e-mail into their new mailboxes.

"We still expect to start the transition pretty soon within the next couple of weeks and be done by the end of the semester," he said.
