Zoll headed to Los Angeles Sparks

The Los Angeles Sparks selected Virginia senior point guard Sharneé Zoll in the first pick of the third round of the WNBA Draft held yesterday in Tampa, Fla.

Zoll was the 29th overall pick of the draft out of 43 players taken. She will be joined in Los Angeles by Tennessee junior star Candace Parker, who was selected first overall by the Sparks. Parker helped lead the Lady Vols to the NCAA women's championship Tuesday.

The Sparks' head coach is former NBA player Michael Cooper, who played with the Lakers alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson in the 1980s. He won five NBA championships with the Lakers.
