Two University students assaulted

Two male University students were victims of assault during a home invasion Wednesday, June 25 at about 3:30 a.m.

Charlottesville Police Sgt. Mark Brake said the students alleged that two assailants kicked in the door to their apartment on the 1400 block of Grady Avenue, struck them with a handgun and demanded money.

"Some statements were made about narcotics supposedly in the house," Brake said, noting that police are trying to find the assailants first, before investigating what charges may apply to both the suspects and the victims.

"It's more than likely not random crime," Brake said. "Some things that were in the residence that were of some value were not taken in the robbery, [so the assailants] had some idea that there were some drugs in the residence and possibly a large sum of money."

The two students were transported to University Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
