As the University community continues to adjust to the new Student Information System, the College extended its drop deadline for fall courses to Sept. 11.
"SIS actually worked the way it was supposed to work, but there were consequences that complicated students' ability to drop courses without finding a W on their transcript," said Richard Handler, associate dean of academic programs.
According to an e-mail sent to students Tuesday about the extension, students can only change their withdrawal into a dropped course if they received their 'W' between Sept. 4 and Sept. 11.
"It's probably important to understand that when you switch to a new system ... it takes a few run-throughs for all of us to see how the system works and what modifications it needs," Handler said. "This is aggravating for students, faculty and staff, but the University really had no choice - that is, we had to install a new system."
The new cutoff ends at 5 p.m. Friday. After this deadline, College students will not be allowed to drop classes and will only be allowed to withdraw.
