With the passage of a historic health care bill Republicans are left in a bit of a position. Do they reluctantly accept it or make a full force for its repeal? Many are arguing for one side or the other, but I propose a different solution. I feel that no matter how bad this bill is, Republicans cannot afford to repeal it unless they can institute one of their own to go in its place. Although we may disagree with the style of the bill and many of the programs contained within it, we cannot forget that the bill does have some positive aspects. To overcome this instead of working to create a brand new bill, which will likely be vetoed by Obama, we need to find a way to modify this bill to better help the country. In the long term, yes, perhaps we can overturn the bill, but in the short-term we have no choice but to accept it. I am in no way saying that we give in, but we need to face the political reality that until President Barack Obama leaves office, we need to fix this bill.. Social Security and Medicare are now firmly entrenched in American society, both with lasting permanent flaws that have become a third rail in politics. We need to get hands on with fixing this bill now, before it becomes even more electrified, even if it means sacrificing our own bill. Unless one of the many legal challenges to this bill holds up, we may not be able to remove it.
