Bicyclist hits back of car

A third-year University student was injured Wednesday morning when she rode her bicycle into the back of a vehicle.

The accident took place on the 400 block of Emmett Street next to the Central Grounds Parking Garage around 10 a.m. When a pedestrian entered the crosswalk between the garage and the Dell Pond, the vehicle stopped and the bicyclist collided with the back of the car. Charlottesville Police Lt. Ronnie Roberts said she was looking down to adjust the gears on her bike and failed to see the vehicle stop.

She was transported to the University Medical Center, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
