Court dismisses panhandling ordinance case

Homeless men opposed to City

A Charlottesville federal judge dismissed a case last week brought by five homeless men who challenged a City ordinance against panhandling last September.

The ordinance, passed by City Council in August 2010, prohibits solicitation on the Downtown Mall within 50 feet of either side of 2nd Street West or 4th Street East as well as solicitation to or from individuals in outdoor caf
