Survival of the fittest

Researchers at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam have found a significant positive relationship between how well children perform academically and how physically active they are. The researchers say exercise may be beneficial for academic work because it increases blood and oxygen flow to the brain. Physical activity may also reduce stress and improve mood, they said. The authors of the study acknowledged that more rigorous work is required to affirm the connection.
