Attorney's illness delays trial

Court proceedings for the murder trial of former University student George Huguely were delayed yesterday because defense attorney Rhonda Quagliana was ill. Huguely stands accused of the first-degree murder of former University student Yeardley Love.

Charlottesville Circuit Court Judge Edward Hogshire said testimony would resume today at 9 a.m.

City spokesperson Ric Barrick confirmed in an email that the trial looks set to continue Saturday.

If the defense does not finish presenting evidence this weekend, proceedings cannot resume until Wednesday, as Monday is a holiday and Tuesday's court docket is full, Barrick said.
