Faculty facts: featuring Michael Rasbury

In the world of drama and theater, many different factors come together to create a production. Yet some are unfortunately overlooked - most notably the importance of sound. Assoc. Drama Prof. Michael Rasbury wants to make sure people notice this crucial element of theater.

Sound is an integral part of any production. It can make a scene funnier, scarier or simply more dramatic. Rasbury's passion for this medium is evident in his classes. One of the highest-rated professors according to student reviews, Rasbury instills his love of sound design in his students. As one student posting on ratemyprofessors.com put it: "Awesome guy, awesome class." An associate professor who joined the drama department faculty in 2004, Rasbury teaches several courses in sound design. Before teaching at the University, he was on the faculty of the School of Performing Arts at Louisiana Tech University and helped design sound for various productions. He has provided sound for various off-Broadway plays and theater festivals, including Macbeth, The Patsy and Dark at the Top of the Stairs. 3
