Charlottesville Police have arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault of a University student on the morning of Sept. 23. The victim, a 17-year-old student, reported that she was assaulted after being forced into a bathroom at a party she was attending on the 1200 block of Wertland Street.
Police have charged Manneh Vay, a 21-year-old Charlottesville resident with rape, sodomy and abduction in connection with the assault. Vay is currently incarcerated at the Charlottesville/Albemarle County Regional Jail where he awaits trial in the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.
Charlottesville Police Lieut. Ronnie Roberts declined to comment further on the arrest.
