Editor's note: New comment policy

Readers,

When we launched the redesigned version of cavalierdaily.com last month, we touted the fact that we are now using a comment system called Disqus that we hope will allow for richer discussions among readers. Building upon this change, we’ve established a new comment policy that you can read here.

Most aspects of the policy are commonsense, and the vast majority of readers will have no difficulty following the rules. But we will monitor the comment threads closely and keep violators of the policy in check. We hope you will assist us in this effort by emailing our operations manager at om@cavalierdaily.com when you think a policy violation may have occurred. This will allow us to respond more quickly to inappropriate comments.

The goal of this policy is not to stifle discussions, but rather to facilitate them by keeping threads free of irrelevant, insulting, or dishonest comments. We hope this will improve your experience on cavalierdaily.com, and we welcome feedback about the effectiveness of the new policy.
