Melodies to Reminisce

A&E chronicles the top ten goodbye songs to fill the void in your heart

With graduation day and the semester’s end approaching, these goodbye songs are sure to match the mood on Grounds as students begin to leave. Some might be familiar, some might not, but all will make you want to go hug a best friend or visit a favorite spot before leaving Grounds over the next few weeks.

  1. “Best Days” by Graham Colton: A sentimental combination of saying goodbye and looking forward that listeners can’t go wrong in playing.
  2. “Home” by Daughtry: Although overplayed on the radio a few years back, listeners will long for their hometown and high school friends after this one.
  3. “Closing Time” by Semisonic: Any fans of “The Office” should also take a peek at the Andy Bernard version.
  4. “Here’s to the Night” by Eve 6: Here’s to one last night with your best friends in Charlottesville.
  5. “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth: From the “Fast and Furious 7” soundtrack, this song is sure to make the tears flow a little bit.
  6. “In My Life” by The Beatles: An oldie but definitely sentimental all the same.
  7. “Save Tonight” by Eagle-Eye Cherry: The lyrics speak to more of a pre-long distance relationship situation, but the chorus absolutely relates to anyone and everyone.
  8. “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts: A little bit of reminiscing with a little bit of looking to the future. What a combination.
  9. “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day: Could there ever be a goodbye song list without this gem?
  10. “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston: Finish strong. Sing the chorus at the top of your lungs.
