CPD responds to shots fired incident

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired incident Sunday at 3:52 a.m. in the area of 14th Street NW and 13th Street NW, per a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety. 

Witnesses heard one shot fired in the area, but a description of the suspect was not provided.

The community alert marks the third alert this month, after both a burglary and a Peeping Tom incident were reported early Saturday morning.

Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations. Timely Warnings are issued when there is an ongoing threat to the community.
