The Charlottesville Police Department responded to an unspecified incident Monday at 8:32 p.m. in the 100 block of 14 Street, per a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety.
The suspect brandished a firearm and threatened to shoot an individual, but no injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as a male in his late 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 pounds. The suspect is believed to be wearing a black t-shirt, black pants and a black hat.
After the incident, the suspect left the scene headed in an unknown direction.
This community alert is the third of August — following shots fired incidents Aug. 16 and 29.
Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations. Timely warnings are issued when there is an ongoing threat to the community.
