The trio of De’Andre Hunter, Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy were instrumental in Virginia men’s basketball’s unforgettable 2019 NCAA Tournament run, helping the Cavaliers win their first national championship in program history. Following the memorable season, all three players elected to leave Charlottesville early and enter the 2019 NBA Draft. Hunter and Jerome were selected in the first round of the draft with Guy following in the second round, marking the first time Virginia had three players drafted since 1987. With the 2019-20 NBA season coming to a close and all three players’ teams eliminated from contention, it’s a good time to review how Virginia’s “Big Three” fared during their rookie seasons.

Virginia returned to action over the weekend looking to build off the momentum it gained from its three-match win last weekend. The Cavaliers (10-4, 2-1 ACC) were able to do just that, knocking off in-state opponents Liberty and Virginia Wesleyan in a doubleheader Saturday.

Novakovic’s unorthodox path to Charlottesville was filled with plenty of twists and turns, but now that she’s here, her role on the team is pivotal.

After a nine-game skid, the Virginia volleyball team captured their first win since their bout against Virginia Tech Sept. 27. The Cavaliers (10-15, 2-10 ACC) fell to Duke (11-14, 4-8 ACC) in straight sets Friday night but rebounded Sunday with a four-set victory against Wake Forest (11-12, 1-11 ACC).

Virginia went on the road to challenge Louisville and Notre Dame this weekend. The Cavaliers (9-14, 1-9 ACC) were defeated in both match-ups, knocked off by the Cardinals (15-5, 8-2 ACC) and the Fighting Irish (15-5, 8-2 ACC) in straight sets.

This past weekend, Virginia hosted both N.C. State (8-11, 3-4 ACC) and North Carolina (8-10, 5-3 ACC) at Memorial Gymnasium. Friday night, the Cavaliers (9-12, 1-7 ACC) fell to N.C. State in four sets and two days later fell to North Carolina in straight sets.
