The chair of the Faculty Senate said the extension will be especially beneficial to faculty whose research has been disrupted by the current pandemic.
The University has not made a decision about its operating schedule in the fall.
The initial announcement prompted outcry among many graduating fourth-year students, and a petition to postpone Final Exercises has garnered over 6,200 signatures as of press time.
Students will automatically be transitioned into the Credit/General Credit/No Credit option April 24 at 8:00 am. Students will then have the option to decide to take the course for a grade. This option will be available to them until April 28 at 8:00 am.
The new committee spent the meeting as an introduction and opportunity to discuss how the term will look.
Harvard Medical School plans to only accept pass/fail coursework if a student’s institution has instituted a universal pass/fail system.

Seven members of the Student Council sponsored the resolution, including Isabella Liu, Chair of the Representative Body and second-year College student, who authored the legislation.
