Formal and informal acts of remembrance dotted Grounds today, as events were held and students sought to remember the lives of Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry, the three student-athletes who lost their lives one year ago.
Throughout the ceremony, community members placed bouquets and flowers on and around the numbers, as well as scattered among the candles on the steps.
The day of remembrance marks exactly one year since students were on lockdown for 12 hours overnight and one full year since everyone felt the loss of the three beloved students and athletes.
The meeting had 21 out of 29 members, meaning the Committee could vote on matters concerning the constitution or bylaws.
As student leaders focus on community gathering, the U.Va. Strong Fund has closed donations and organizers hope to fully distribute all funds collected.
