The NAACP at U.Va. statement accused Cain of “inherently misleading” Black students, writing that they would not stand for “destructive behaviors” or Cain’s alleged “weaponization of Black students’ concerns.”
Apart from a contested presidential election, students will also vote to decide whether expulsion should remain the sanction for committing an Honor offense.
The voting period opens Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts regarding the proposed refenda at a town hall hosted by Cavalier Daily on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s meeting did not meet quorum, the minimum number of representatives needed to vote on agenda items.
A total of 12 cases were adjudicated in the previous term, down from a recent peak of 57 in the spring semester of 2021.
More than 30 individuals attended the event and participants voiced opinions on a number of issues.
