Softball goes 2-2 at UVA Home Tournament

The Virginia softball team (5-23, 1-8 ACC) dropped a doubleheader Wednesday night against James Madison (19-6). The Dukes stifled the Cavaliers’ bats while erupting offensively off Virginia’s pitching to earn 9-1 and 10-2 wins.
The Virginia softball team (5-21, 1-8 ACC) will visit Harrisonburg as it competes in a two-game series against James Madison (17-6). The games were originally scheduled for March 4, but inclement weather postponed the games until Wednesday.

It was a busy weekend for Cavaliers (1-3) as the Virginia softball team competed in the final three games of the Kajikawa Classic at Farrington Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. In Friday’s game against the University of Texas at El Paso, Virginia capitalized upon two big innings as they routed the Miners 14-5 in five innings.

The Virginia softball team took both games of their doubleheader Wednesday afternoon against Liberty. The Cavaliers (8-40, 1-22 ACC) put forward a tremendous effort in all facets of the game to douse the Flames (7-42, 2-19 Big South) by a combined score of 16-4.
Virginia softball dropped both games of its Tuesday doubleheader with James Madison. The Cavaliers (6-40, 1-22 ACC) fought hard to stay close with a top-25 RPI Dukes (35-13, 9-3 CAA) team.
With one week remaining in the regular season Virginia softball comes crawling to the finish line looking for a more positive end to a disappointing season. The Cavaliers wrap up their home schedule with a Tuesday doubleheader against James Madison and a Wednesday series against Liberty. Virginia’s burden does not get any lighter on Tuesday.
Virginia softball concluded the home portion of its ACC schedule this weekend against No. 22 Notre Dame. The Cavaliers’ (6-38, 1-22 ACC) bats betrayed them in the first two games before coming alive in a thrilling Senior Day game.
