6-4 Cavaliers to host hungry Wolfpack

Two teams more alike than they are different face off when No. 22 N.C. State comes to Charlottesville tomorrow to play the Cavaliers at noon. Both teams boast a junior quarterback, the first and second-ranked passers in the ACC, both have relied on true freshmen to carry the load on the ground, and both have dropped their last two games after a long win streak. The Wolfpack (9-2, 4-2) come into Scott Stadium following losses to Georgia Tech and Maryland and without their leading rusher freshman T.A.

Host Cavaliers row to second place behind Ohio State at Rivanna Romp

The Virginia women's crew team made a strong showing against Ohio State, Clemson, North Carolina and William & Mary at the Rivanna Romp Sunday morning in the Cavaliers' last regatta of the fall season. Virginia's varsity eight "A" boat finished in second place with a time of 13 minutes, 40.5 seconds, behind Ohio State's "A" crew (13:39.4), and followed by Clemson's "A" boat, Virginia's "B" boat, Ohio State's "C" boat, Virginia's "C" boat and William & Mary. "I would say it felt strong all the way though," junior captain Jen Reck said.

Orange squad beats Blue in wrestling exhibition After opening Virginia's annual exhibition match with five individual bout victories, the Orange squad held onto its lead to win the match, 16-7. The Orange squad was led with wins from redshirt freshman Paul Bjorlo, sophomore Will Durkee, freshman Peter Kang, senior Andy DeMartino and freshman Brian Sticca. Virginia takes second at Cavalier Open The Virginia women's cross country team finished secondbehind Georgetown University at the Cavalier Open, held at Panorama Farms on Saturday. Junior Kelly Behan led the team in the 6K race with her 12th place finish in 22:50.40, followed by junior Lauren Chaikin in 16th and sophomore Jessica Ellis in 18th.

Cavaliers open with exhibition victory

Despite having only five scholarship players available and starting a walk-on at point guard, the Virginia men's basketball team routed Big Apple Basketball, 84-60, in an exhibition game at University Hall yesterday. The game was close for the first seven minutes, but Virginia used a 17-0 spurt to pull away from Big Apple.
