Finishing strong

Quickly, raise your hand if you have heard one of these before: "He's a great closer; when the game's on the line you want the ball in his hands." Or, on the other side, "He's a choke artist; he just doesn't know how to finish games." I write this because as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, last Sunday I was forced to watch in agony as my team blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, thanks in large part to the struggles of quarterback Tony Romo.

Legends never die

Plaxico Burress should be a New York Giants legend. He just should. There's no debate about it. If we lived in a just world, Plax would have gone down in Giants lore right alongside Michael Strahan and Eli Manning as a legend of the Super Bowl XLII team.

There's always next year

To me, the greatest thing about sports is that there's always a next year. No matter how many games a team loses, or how close the players got to a championship, only to see the ultimate prize slip through their fingertips at the final moments, there will always be a next year to come out and try it again. Unfortunately, in life, it's often much more difficult to look forward to next year - a fact we were all reminded of by the events we as a nation commemorated this past Sunday.
