Wild cats and underdogs

Though I'm sure you've all been absorbed in the Kasparov-Karpov chess rematch in Spain these past few days, I'd like to talk about a less-followed sport: primetime football. It's rare that any Dallas game lives up to the hype that surrounds it, but the Cowboys-Giants game was a fast-paced thriller.

Midterm report card

For University students, midterms are about two weeks away. But Virginia athletics run on a different schedule, with the fall season starting a couple weeks before the academic semester starts, and ending a couple weeks before the academic semester ends. So, I find this an ideal time to give each of the fall sports midterm grades.

Wow, what a dismal weekend of football for me. My two favorite teams - the Dallas Cowboys and, of course, the Cavaliers - lost by a combined five points.

The University’s Orientation and Transition programs are vital to supporting first year and transfer students throughout their entire transition to college. But much of their work goes into planning summer orientation sessions. Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
