Two Guys Tacos beats out competition

When we returned from winter break to find there was a new taco joint in town, we were elated. Especially when we realized it had replaced Big Dawgz, as we both hate hot dogs and thought of the yellow sign as more of an eyesore than an enticement.

Charlottesville is defined by its monumental attractions: Monticello, the Downtown Mall and the University of Virginia to name a few. These attractions are must-sees for any student, resident or tourist. But it is Charlottesville’s lesser-known venues that make it into the special place it is.

A CIO with style

When it comes to fashion at the University, one organization dominates. Fashion Artistic and Musical Expression brings the runway to Grounds every semester, showing off the design and modeling skills of University students at its shows. FAME Co-President Abby Ciucias said the organization formed in 2008 when the previous fashion club was suffering from financial problems.

How long have you been working at the University? This is my second year. Which classes do you teach? I teach "Rise and Fall of the Slave South," which covers the colonial era through the late 19th century, "American Intellectual & Cultural History," from the Revolution to World War I, and a research seminar on gender and the American Civil War. Tell me about your childhood. I grew up in Fairfax, Va.
