ACC recognizes Cavalier pitcher

The ACC awarded Virginia baseball's Dan Street its Pitcher of the Week for his efforts against the U.S. Naval Academy this weekend.

Street, a junior right-handed pitcher, threw seven scoreless innings in the Cavaliers' 6-2 victory over Navy. He also struck out a game-high six batters and allowed no runs, no walks and only two hits.

Street leads the Cavaliers (3-0) with a team-low 0.00 ERA so far this season, and is second in strikeouts, with six. He finished the 2000 season with a 0.69 ERA and 23 strikeouts. Opposing batters hit only .158 against him last year.

Georgia Tech's Richard Lewis grabbed ACC Player of the Week honors after he recorded six hits, six RBI and a .545 batting average in the Yellowjackets' win over Georgia Southern.

Wolfpack sweeps hoops honors

The ACC named the Wolfpack's Tynesha Lewis as this week's women's basketball Player of the Week and teammate Adeola Olanrewaju as ACC Rookie of the Week.

Lewis, a senior guard, led N.C. State to conference victories over Georgia Tech last Thursday and No. 4 Duke on Sunday. Lewis averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the week. Since Lewis took over the point guard position the Wolfpack is 6-0.
