Golf takes ninth place at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Collegiate
Led by freshman Brad Tilley, the Virginia men's golf team finished ninth of 11 teams at the Mason Rudolph Collegiate at Vanderbilt yesterday.
Tilley, competing in his first collegiate meet, shot 215 (5 over par) to finish in a tie for 28th. Senior Thomas Lee shot a career-best 69 yesterday to finish tied for 31st (6 over par).
Led by Lee, Virginia closed the tournament with a strong final round to finish ninth overall at 868 (29 over par). Junior Jeremy Luce finished at 8 over par and senior Justin Goodhue finished two behind Luce.
Vanderbilt, led by medalist Brandt Sneeker, cruised to an 18-shot victory over the College of Charleston. The Commodores finished at 29 under par.
Sneeker finished at 12 under par and his teammate Craig Dunlap finished third, four strokes back.
Virginia will return to action Oct. 8-9 at the Adams Cup, to be held at Newport Country Club in Rhode Island.
Wake Forest game will not be televised; kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday that the Wake Forest
Virginia game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28th will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
The Demon Deacons will host the game in Winston-Salem, NC, but the game will not be televised.
The game will be broadcast on the Virginia Sports Network, which can be heard in Charlottesville on WINA/WWWV Radio.
