Misdemeanor charges brought against Clarett

Maurice Clarett was charged yesterday with misdemeanor falsification. Clarett claimed that more than $10,000 was stolen from his car in late April. Later he admitted to filing an exaggerated theft report.If convicted he faces up to six months in prison and $1,000 in fines. Clarett also is being investigated by the NCAA on various eligibility violations. Coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday Ohio State University is close to severing all ties with the star running back.
