Virginia's Kelly qualifies for NCAA's

First-year Kimi Kelly was chosen as the ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.

Kelly claimed a pair of victories in the season-opening double-dual meet last weekend at Virginia's AFC.

Her wins came in the 500 freestyle and 1000 freestyle. Kelly's first collegiate race, the 500 free, qualifies her for the 2004 NCAA Championships. In the 1000 free, Kelly swam a 9:42.77, barely missing Lane's pool record by two seconds.

Kelly raced a 2:01.26 in the 200 butterfly, a NCAA provisional qualifying time.
